Nancy Patterson is a Venture Analyst and the President and CEO of the Strategy Inc. team for US and International clients. Ms. Patterson has over 18 years experience in senior business development and marketing roles with emerging technology medical device companies, the last three of which were acquired by multinational medical companies for $205M, $387M and $508M. Ms. Patterson has held the position as the Vice President, Commercialization for the Alfred E. Mann Foundation for Biomedical Engineering. In her executive role she managed the due diligence function for the philanthropic Foundation that was endowed with over $2 billion targeted to create a new generation of university-based biomedical institutes such as the one at Purdue University and the one at the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa that focus on the translation and commercialization of compelling biomedical technology.

Since 2006 through 2010 Ms. Patterson has been a guest speaker each quarter at the UCLA core class entitled The Business of Science. This graduate school class, one of the most popular in the medical school, teaches about the path to successful commercialization for lifescience technology. In 2010 Ms. Patterson was an invited presenter at IESE, for Healthcare 2020 in Barcelona. Ms. Patterson is part of a 1 year InHealth grant working with Stanford and Northwestern. She is a much sought after speaker in the area of valuation and lifescience investment. She has been a Board Member of the Global Medical Marketing Association, as well as a frequent contributor to Cardiovascular Device Update, MedTech Insight and the BBI Newsletter. In 2004 and 2005 Ms. Patterson developed and taught a series of courses at the University of California at Irvine entitled "Securing Funding for Your Compelling Medical Device Technology". Ms. Patterson has an MBA from University of Southern California with a combined Finance and Marketing focus. She also has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and a graduate focus in Immunology.

Ms. Wolf has over 15 years of global strategic marketing, market due diligence, marketing management and product development experience in the medical device industry. A senior consultant with Strategy Inc. since 2002, Ms. Wolf has extensive business development expertise in the areas of business plan generation, market opportunity assessment, technology assessment and valuation for emerging medical device technology. Combining a strong background in both bioengineering and marketing, Ms. Wolf provides analytical skills and strategic direction to support successful medical technology commercialization in a wide range of clinical areas.

Ms. Wolf has worked in marketing management and product development roles for Fortune 500 companies Becton Dickinson and Stryker Orthopedics. She also has experience working in start-up and cutting-edge companies including MicroTherapeutics, a neurointerventional emerging technology company specializing in embolic coils, liquid embolics and microcatheters acquired by ev3 Inc. in 2006.

Ms. Wolf holds a Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University and a Master's degree in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her graduate work in the Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Ms. Wolf also completed graduate studies in Business Management at New York University.

Ms.Vela has 16 years working in the lifescience industry: The most recent six years of experience as a healthcare consultant with focus in the clinical diagnostics, drug discovery and medical device industries. Her solid industry knowledge is supported by a strong scientific background with the previous 10 years managing academic laboratories brings real world experience from the R&D side and hands-on expertise on a variety of techniques including proteomics, genomics, molecular, and cellular biology.

As a healthcare consultant, Ms. Vela worked for Frost & Sullivan, a global business market research and consulting firm, for 4 years where she participated in over 30 projects in a variety of clinical specialties including cardiovascular, oncology, women health, infectious diseases, and wound management. She is experienced performing market due diligence, technology and clinical assessments, and competitive analyses for a wide range of products and technologies. With Strategy Inc., Ms. Vela has collaborated in a variety of projects for numerous clients including several for the Alfred Mann Foundation for Biomedical Engineering since 2009.

During her 10 years working in a research setting, Ms. Vela was a laboratory manager in the Department of Clinical Immunology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. The focus of her research was signal transduction and apoptosis directed towards understanding the underlying mechanisms which drive auto immune diseases. In the latter years of her academic research career, Ms. Vela set-up a 2D-Gel electrophoresis unit to compliment the Mass Spectrometry unit of the Proteomics Core Facility at the UTHSC-SA.

Ms. Vela holds a Bachelor degree in Biology and Master degree in Molecular Genetics from Texas A&M University. She is bilingual, English and Spanish (native language).

Mari K. Hoidal has over ten years of experience in international business development for medical technology and healthcare service companies. With a foundation in biological sciences, she has provided technology assessment and strategic market analysis to multiple emerging medical device and healthcare companies in a variety of clinical areas. Her primary expertise is conducting extensive market due diligence, designing and developing strategies to assist companies with their business expansion, and producing market analysis reports, business plans and initial financial pro formas.

Ms. Hoidal has Masters' degrees in both Health Administration and Gerontology from the University of Southern California. She also has an undergraduate degree in Biology from Santa Clara University.


Kory Razaghi has over 10 years of investment banking, consulting, business development, and R&D research experience in various life sciences related industries.

As a consultant, Mr. Razaghi has been involved in different projects including strategic consulting, market assessment, technology in- and out- licensing, competitive intelligence gathering and analysis, and business development. As a member of several private equity teams, Mr. Razaghi focused on the healthcare sector, specifically medical devices, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology. His responsibilities included initial screening, due diligence, market assessment, valuation analysis, and advising on transaction structure, including securing licensing agreements, for prospective clients and portfolio companies. Mr. Razaghi also played an integral role in the capital formation and fund raising activities on behalf of the client companies.

Mr. Razaghi has also worked as a biochemist for public and private biotechnology companies. He has worked on a variety of projects including research and development of pre-clinical anti-hemorrhagic drugs, genetically enhanced agricultural products, and analytical chemistry products and services. Mr. Razaghi holds an MBA in finance, a Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis in neuroscience, and a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry.


Dyane Jackson, MD is a physician with 13 years of emergency room experience. She was also a research assistant at Amgen monitoring the stability of protein medications and authoring technical and business materials. Currently, Dr. Jackson is applying her hospital experience integrated with work process to improve the quality of healthcare through electronic medical records. Dr. Jackson was also an adjunct professor at California State University Channel Islands teaching anatomy, physiology and human physiology. Dr. Jackson's unique background of both clinical expertise and business experience affords her the ability to prepare background materials on a wide range of clinical areas to project adoption.

Dr. Jackson has contributed to numerous due diligence projects for a range of technologies at the Alfred Mann Foundation and other Alfred Mann Family of Companies. Dr. Jackson has an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz and an MD from Ross University at Portsmouth Dominica.
